Donnan/Vimy Hockey Student-Athletes And Alums Win U18 Gold
Just being selected to wear the maple leaf is a great honour for any hockey player.
Four Donnan/Vimy Hockey student-athletes took that honour one step further by coming home with a gold medal to go in front of that maple leaf.
Sam Steel, David Quenneville, Carter Hart and alum Tyler Benson were a part of the U18 National Team that were charged with the task to win Canada’s 8th straight Gold Medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Breclav, Czech Republic in August.
The team cruised the round robin, finishing with a 3-0 record and outscoring their opponents 14-3.
The semi-final was a much stiffer task, with the Canadians having to gut out a win in the Shootout against rivals on Team Russia.
In the final, the boys from Donnan/Vimy Hockey and the rest of Team Canada would face Team Sweden, with Team Canada coming up victorious and Donnan/Vimy Hockey alumnus Tyler Benson scoring the game winner.
