Jake DeBrusk – Another Donnan/Vimy Hockey 1st Round NHL Pick

Jake DeBrusk is the newest name added to the list of Donnan and Vimy Hockey student-athletes to be drafted in the 1st round of the NHL, joining fellow alums Mark McNeill (2011 – 18th overall – Chicago Blackhawks), John Quenneville (2014 – 30th overall – New Jersey Devils) and Shawn Belle (2003 – 30th overall – St.Louis Blues).

Jake, son of former NHL’er Louie DeBrusk, spent last season with the Swift Current Broncos, posting 42 goals, 39 assists for 81 points in 72 games played in his breakout 2nd season in the WHL.

This uptick in offence obviously caught the eye of the Bruins and they took Jake with their first round selection and invited the young forward to their rookie camp where he scored this beauty of a goal, the video of which became a viral hit.

Congratulations to Jake and his family on this great accomplishment and good luck in the upcoming season.
