Information On The Donnan Arena Closure

Recently, it was announced that the City of Edmonton will be closing down Donnan Arena for some much needed repairs. At this time, we have not been provided detailed information on the specifics of the repairs and the downtime required, so we cannot say for certain when the rink will be shut down next school year and when we will have access again.

We’d like to let you know what this means for the student-athletes and families of Donnan Hockey.

First, despite the potential for increases in costs to transport student-athletes to alternate arenas, we have a commitment to the value of our program and at this time there are no plans to increase the fees to attend Donnan Hockey.

Secondly, we are working with our partners to ensure that the world-class programming that Donnan Hockey student-athletes are accustomed to continues for the next school year. This includes programming both on the ice and in the classroom. Regardless of any challenges this closure causes, academics will always be the top priority at all Academic and Athletic Development programs.

Donnan and Vimy Hockey have been providing 20 years of academic and athletic programming to student-athletes, and in that time, we have faced many challenges. With the support of our great staff, our student-athletes and their families, our program will continue to be the best training option for hockey student-athletes in the Edmonton area.
